A wonderful Earshot program discussing the video artist(Raft above) Bill Viola's work.
A way to describe this dudes body of work would be out of this world however this could not be further from the truth because Bill's work draws you deeper into this world, allowing you to connect at a much deeper level with our own inner spirit, emotion and something un-nameable.
I was a late comer to his work and had no idea who he was until I listened to a Spirit of Things podcast Bill Viola's Spiritual Art, on this program he was interviewed by the lovely Rachael Kohn, this as well is a must listen. After listening to this episode and being blown away by the discussion I discovered the Fed Square NGV had 'The Raft' playing, this work affected me quite deeply. Bill Viola is able to capture and re-visit something that most of us only feel.
